Dr. Andrea Martinelli joined Family Medicine at Clairemont Center in December 2017, and has been enjoying it ever since.
“Family doctors are often times the first line of defense against common injuries and illnesses,” Dr. Martinelli said. “We also are lucky in that we get to know our patients, so we can provide more personalized treatment plans that fit an individual’s own routine and needs.”
Dr. Martinelli said she’s always been interested in medicine. At a young age, she can remember having a good family doctor who took care of her family well. “I got a sense of what Family Medicine could be.”
After graduating from medical school at St. George’s University-School of Medicine, Dr. Martinelli took her residency at the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, Tenn., and then returned to the Midwest for her first career.
She enjoys getting to know her patients, and that she can care for a variety of ages, backgrounds and health conditions. Dr. Martinelli said by learning more about her patients, she can hopefully help lead them on their journey toward living a healthy and active life.
“I am a good listener for my patients,” she said. “I hope to offer a fresh perspective on some of their issues and concerns.”
Outside of work, Dr. Martinelli can be found riding her bike around town and on the local trails with her dog.
