Provider Bio down arrow

During high school, a fascination and curiosity with natural science, anatomy and physiology and knowing how the body organs function provoked in interest in medical education for Dr. Abolghasem Javaherian.

In 1973, Dr. Javaherian attended the National University of Iran – currently known as the Shaheed Beheshti University of Medical Sciences - and graduated in 1980 with highest honors. He then entered into military service, where he served in the Iranian Navy for two years. Following completion of his military service, he entered the cardiology residency program at Imam Khomeini University. In 1983, Dr. Javaherian immigrated to the United States and studied at Caplan Training Center in New Jersey.

In 1993, following positions in echocardiography and a rotation in internal medicine, Dr. Javaherian moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin and established his own internal practice.

He formally joined Marshfield Clinic Health System in 2008 and works as an internal medicine hospitalist.

“I became interested in internal medicine, which deals with the comprehensive knowledge of an illness and how to treat that. I always wished to be a clinician, communicate with my patients and have a patient/physician relationship with them," he said.

He sees patients for conditions like hypertension, diabetes, kidney disease, stroke, bleeding and clotting disorders, osteoporosis and more.

What he enjoys most as a provider is seeing his patients smile, seeing the satisfaction when they feel healed, helping control their symptoms, diagnosing their illnesses and helping them through their health and well-being journey over the years.

Dr. Javaherian has been happily married since 1979. They have two sons.
