A Message from the Transitional Year Program Director

Our Transitional Year Residency Program is accepted as a year of postgraduate training prior to entering categorical residencies in which a broad-based year is required or recommended. The program is fully accredited and approved to accept four residents per year. The Transitional Year Residency Program began in 1975 and has had 150 graduates as of July 2009.

Past Transitional Year Residents have come from more than 45 allopathic and osteopathic medical schools across the country including Columbia University, Loma Linda University School of Medicine, Indiana University School of Medicine, Mayo Medical School, Medical College of Wisconsin, Northwestern University School of Medicine, University of Iowa, University of Minnesota Medical School, University of Nebraska School of Medicine and the University of Wisconsin Medical School.

Our Transitional Year Residents have universally passed Step III of their respective boards and completed their training well-prepared to pursue residencies in Anesthesiology, Dermatology, Emergency Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, Pathology, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Radiation Oncology, and Radiology.
