Residency, Fellowship and Student Programs

A focus on learning

We have geared the residencies and fellowships to meet the educational needs of the physicians in training. We have a substantial ancillary support staff in patient care areas and as a result, our residents and fellows focus on diagnosing and treating patients.

Marshfield Clinic-Saint Joseph's Hospital's buildings are physically connected for continuity of care and patient convenience, and parking at the medical complex is free.

One resident described the Clinic-Hospital's computer system as "without a doubt, the best of any I've seen."

It has such features as a combined electronic medical record, accessible from any computer station in the complex and from Marshfield Clinic's regional centers. Residents and fellows have access to the Internet, e-mail, on-line medical library resources, a teleconferencing system that is linked to many institutions in the Marshfield Clinic system and can be linked around the world. Residents and fellows are be able to access the clinic computer system from home.

In fact, Marshfield Clinic's electronic health record has become the first internally-developed program in the nation to receive CCHIT Certification.

Our residents and fellows learn by working directly with faculty on a daily basis and through the experience of caring for patients. It's hard to find a residency and fellowship programs like this anywhere, especially outside a metropolitan area.
