Wellness Guide to a Healthy Weight: Managing Your Weight

Helping You to a Healthy Lifestyle

Reaching and maintaining a health weight is an ongoing process.

Weight increases when high calorie food is eaten, there is a lack of physical activity and equipment and vehicles are used to save time and energy.

To lose weight, it is necessary to reduce calorie intake by eating less, and increase physical activity by exercising more. Even small changes, if consistently made, make a big difference in your health.

Recommendations:

  • Eat vegetables, fruits and whole grains with little added fat or sugar.
  • Select sensible portion sizes.
  • Limit intake of calorie-containing beverages, such as soft drinks, juice, or alcohol. These can add significant calories with limited nutrition.
  • Get moving. Get some physical activity every day to balance calories from the food you eat.
  • Set a good example for children by eating healthy and enjoying regular physical activities together.
