Electronic medical record
Marshfield Clinic has been a pioneer in developing and using integrated computer technology for patient care for more than 20 years. Our secure electronic medical record was among the first computerized health record systems in the United States when it was established in 1994. It is continually updated. HealthImaging and IT magazine has named Marshfield Clinic one of the Top 25 connected health care facilities in the United States.
The electronic medical record contains information such as test results, diagnostic images, radiology reports, diagnoses, treatment plans and notes for your care from any Marshfield Clinic location, Saint Joseph's Hospital of Marshfield or other affiliated Ministry Health Care facilities. The electronic medical record is connected to all locations, so your physician in Marshfield or any other member of your health care team can access the information needed to take care of you. Wireless tablet computers allow health care providers to share patient education materials with you, write prescriptions electronically and update your record. The Marshfield Clinic system became chartless in 2007.

Quality of care
Marshfield Clinic is committed to finding ways to improve the efficiency and quality of care delivered to patients. It was selected to participate in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) project on reducing health care costs while improving the quality and value of care. Marshfield Clinic controlled health care costs better than a comparison group in the geographic region by providing cost-effective services and improving quality. Helping patients better manage chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease avoided hospitalization and enhanced quality, resulting in better outcomes for patients and savings to the federal Medicare program.
Hospital care
Should you require hospital care in Marshfield, you benefit further. Saint Joseph's Hospital, a 524-bed referral facility operated by Ministry Health Center, connects to Marshfield Clinic on five floors. Marshfield Clinic physicians provide care at the hospital. It is a founding member of the Wisconsin Health Care Collaborative/Quality Initiative, a voluntary effort to measure outcomes and improve quality.
