Appointments

A patient is scheduled for a TeleHealth appointment much like he or she would be in person at any Marshfield Clinic Center.

At the appointed time, a specially-trained TeleHealth Nurse Clinician greets and prepares the patient, orienting him or her to the TeleHealth consult process and preparing them for the clinical exam. Depending on the circumstances, the patient's family doctor may participate and other family members may be present.

TeleHealth uses a room camera that shows the patient and other family members. Special hand-held cameras can zoom in for tight close-ups in order to give the physician a good picture of the patient's problem areas. A fiber-optic otoscope and digital stethoscopes help to recreate the in-person exam that a physician would provide. Everyone can talk back and forth during the examination and patients are encouraged to ask questions.
