MARSHFIELD CLINIC INTERNET WEB SITE: LEARN MORE ABOUT FLU VACCINE AVAILABILITY
Vaccine for seasonal and H1N1 influenza is in short supply right now but Marshfield Clinic anticipates vaccine shipments will continue to arrive at Clinic locations, though supplies and delivery dates are not certain.
Health care officials nationally do not consider there is a shortage of vaccines, just a delay in delivery. There is an increase in demand nationally for the vaccines and some vaccine producers are creating seasonal and H1N1 vaccine at the same time.
“We want people to know that seasonal influenza is not yet being diagnosed so there is time to get that vaccine prior to peak times for that illness in January, February and March,” said Marshfield Clinic Vice President Doug Reding, M.D., M.P.H. “Getting that vaccine in November and December does provide protection.”
To learn more about vaccine availability within the Clinic system, please refer to the Clinic’s Web site at www.marshfieldclinc.org/flu
Another resource is county public health departments. Call your local health department for more information about their flu vaccine availability or watch for their announcements.
The Marshfield Clinic system provides patient care, research and education with 45 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
