MARSHFIELD CLINIC ENROLLING VOLUNTEERS AGED 65 AND OLDER FOR A SEASONAL INFLUENZA VACCINE STUDY
Marshfield Clinic researchers are enrolling volunteers for a research study that will look at the effectiveness and safety of an investigational high dose seasonal influenza vaccine.
Ray Haselby, D.O., a Marshfield Clinic Infectious Medicine physician, is the principal investigator for this study at Marshfield Clinic Marshfield Center.
The purpose of this research study is to compare the safety and efficacy of an Investigational Fluzone High-Dose vaccine to that of the licensed Fluzone® vaccine in the prevention of laboratory-confirmed influenza in the elderly.
Adults age 65 or older who are able to attend all scheduled visits and comply with all trial procedures are eligible to participate.
Those who volunteer for the study will receive one dose of either the Investigational Fluzone High-Dose or the licensed Fluzone vaccine containing the appropriate virus strains for the coming influenza season, as recommended by the United States Public Health Service (USPHS). They will receive study-related care and medication at no charge.
Sanofi Pasteur Inc., of Swiftwater, Pennsylvania, is the study’s sponsor.
For more information, or to see if you qualify to participate in the study, contact Carol Beck, Clinical Research coordinator at Marshfield Clinic Marshfield Center, at 715-389-3144.
