GROUNDBREAKING SCHEDULED FOR MARSHFIELD CLINIC DENTAL CENTER IN RICE LAKE

A groundbreaking ceremony for the new Marshfield Clinic Rice Lake Dental Center, in partnership with Family Health Center of Marshfield, Inc., will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, October 19 at the site of the new construction.

The Rice Lake Dental Center will be located at 1501 W. Stout Street, Rice Lake. The groundbreaking is open to the public. Refreshments will follow the ceremony.

“The Rice Lake Dental Center reflects a community commitment to oral health access, education and prevention,” said Terri Kleutsch, dental administrator, Marshfield Clinic. “The new facility, which is expected to open in the summer of 2010, will allow the addition of 5 dentists and 5 dental hygienists.”

“The new dental center will serve families in Barron and surrounding counties and gives us an additional opportunity to provide services in an area where people, especially children with Medicaid coverage, may not have access to dental care,” said Greg Nycz, director, Family Health Center of Marshfield and director of health policy, Marshfield Clinic. “It is also important that the community realize this project would not have been possible without support provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

Speakers for the event include; U.S. Rep. Dave Obey, Wisconsin 7th Congressional District; State Rep. Mary Hubler, 75th Assembly District; State Sen. Robert Jauch, 25th Senate District; Dan Fitzgerald, Rice Lake mayor; Brad Bekkum, M.D., medical director, Marshfield Clinic Northwest Division; and Erik Stratman, M.D., director, Marshfield Clinic Division of Education. Co-emcees will be Kleutsch and Nycz.

Marshfield Clinic operates dental centers in Chippewa Falls, Ladysmith, Neillsville, Owen and Park Falls, and will open a new dental center later this fall in Medford. These centers have provided dental care to people from 65 of Wisconsin’s 72 counties regardless of insurance status or ability to pay. A sliding fee scale assists families with limited income and no insurance.

The Marshfield Clinic system provides patient care, research and education with 45 locations in northern, central and western Wisconsin, making it one of the largest comprehensive medical systems in the United States.
