NATIONAL FARM MEDICINE CENTER UPDATES FACT SHEETS ON KEY SAFETY, HEALTH TOPICS
The National Farm Medicine Center at Marshfield Clinic is supporting National Farm Safety and Health Week, September 20-26, by posting online an updated collection of safety and health fact sheets on topics key to farmers and their families.
The Harvesting Health series provides practical, concise information on back pain, children and dairy chemicals, dusts and molds, hearing protection, manure gases, silo gas, skin cancer and respirators. The series also includes a checklist for assessing farm worksite safety.
Information on the fact sheets is easy to use for farmers and well-respected by health and safety professionals. The content was updated by Steven Kirkhorn, M.D., M.P.H., medical director of the National Farm Medicine Center and the Marshfield Clinic Occupational Health Department. The sheets can be viewed at www.marshfieldclinic.org/nfmc/default.aspx?page=nfmc_adult_health_and_safety_resources_hh
Harvesting Health is used by the AgriSafe Network, a national organization of professionals who provide occupational health and safety services. The sheets are also popular as handouts at professional conferences and local fairs.
Please join the National Farm Medicine Center in saluting our farmers and ranchers, and all workers in agriculture, as well as their families.
