Don't let the flu get to you

Your guide to understanding and controlling diabetes

Diabetes is a serious, life-long condition. There is no cure for diabetes but with education and experience, you can reduce the severity or delay onset of certain symptoms.

Diabetes is a chronic disorder that interferes with your body’s production of insulin. Insulin is a hormone needed by the body to regulate blood sugar levels.

Symptoms of diabetes may vary depending on the type, but include a number of common factors.

A number of factors combine to increase the risk of developing diabetes. The good news is many of the risk factors are in our control.

Prediabetes is a warning to make changes. It occurs when your blood sugar levels are high, but have not reached the diabetes stage yet.

Your doctor may conduct several tests to confirm diabetes or prediabetes.

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the American Diabetes Association (ADA) announced that numerous physicians from Marshfield Clinic have received Recognition from the Diabetes Physician Recognition Program for providing quality care to patients with diabetes.

Untreated diabetes is a serious medical condition that can damage several internal organs and other severe consequences.

Your treatment for diabetes will depend on which type you have and could range from a change in eating habits to daily injections of insulin.
