Coalition Mission:
Inner Wisconsin Coalition for Youth is a network of community members promoting and facilitating healthy lifestyles, leading toward the prevention of alcohol and other substance abuse. We work toward developing healthy environments that foster resilient, successful youth and families.
Strategies that will be used to reach the Coalition’s goal are:
- An environmental approach or policy change – Community standards, codes and attitudes will need to be addressed to influence the incidence and prevalence of drug abuse in the general population.
- Information dissemination about the nature and extent of drug use, abuse and the effects on individuals, families and communities. Prevention programs and services will be included.
- Educational programs/services to involve two-way communication. Parent support groups and youth initiatives will help to affect critical life and social skills, including decision making, and refusal skills.
- Community-based processes – includes working with other groups with similar goals to more effectively provide prevention and treatment services for drug abuse disorders.
- Alternative activities – the development of constructive, healthy activities that exclude drug use.
Members of the Inner Wisconsin Coalition for Youth shall be those persons who place their name on the membership roll and who are willing to support the Coalition through committee work and/or being an ambassador. Refer to the Contact page of the website for further information.
