Marshfield Clinic offers a comprehensive cancer care program. Our full range of care extends beyond the latest technology and clinical cancer trials; it also includes an array of support services to ensure you receive complete emotional and physical care.

Advance Care Planning: Technological advances have made it more common to extend a person's life, even when quality of life is diminished. Marshfield Clinic offers advance care planning education and assistance through our Community Resources department.

American Cancer Society Patient Navigator: Having cancer is hard. Finding help shouldn't be. The free, confidential Patient Navigator is available to you and your support team. Together with your medical team, your American Cancer Society Patient Navigator can connect you with reliable information on your specific type of cancer and treatment. Your day-to-day concerns such as lodging and transportation, and hair loss to name a few, can also be addressed. Your Patient Navigator offers emotional support by listening to your concerns, and offering you and your loved ones support resources tailored to your needs.
Cancer Registry
The Cancer Registry of Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care has been in existence since 1960. The Cancer Registry is an approved program by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. The Registry also meets the Association of Community Cancer Center standards for cancer programs. The Cancer Registry collects data on cancer treatment that is used to improve the quality of treatment delivered at Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care and throughout the nation through submission of data to the National Cancer Database.
Caregiver and Home Health Care Resources: The increased demands of providing home health care to an ill loved one can be overwhelming. Help is available. Marshfield Clinic Community Resources provides an array of services. Whether you require the assistance of clinical social workers, financial assistance or rehabilitation services, we can help you find respite.
Exercise, Rehabilitation and Nutrition: Diet and exercise are essential components of recovery and treatment. Registered dieticians in the Nutrition Services department provide nutrition assessment and patient education / counseling for patients with cancer - before, during and after treatment. The Marshfield Clinic Physical and Occupational Therapy department offers a comprehensive rehabilitation program that provides a wide variety of therapeutic services, specialized staff, and state-of-the-art diagnostic and rehabilitative equipment.
Financial / Insurance Information
- Patient Assistance: Marshfield Clinic's Patient Assistance Center provides assistance with insurance benefits and eligibility. They can also help you obtain prior authorizations, provide fee estimates, assist with billing concerns and can help make bill payment arrangements. In addition, they can help patients with financial needs, or those who are underinsured or uninsured. - Online bill pay: Marshfield Clinic patients who have registered for My Marshfield Clinic can pay their bill online, patients can also view current and past statements, amounts pending insurance and payments made.
Hospice:Hospice care is designed to meet the physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of patients of all ages suffering from life limiting illnesses, where curative treatment is no longer beneficial. The focus of hospice care is supporting family relationships and quality of life.

- Patient Stories: When the future seems filled with uncertainty, comfort often comes from knowing someone else has been through the same situation. Our patients and their families have shared their inspirational stories, in the hope that they will bring you some comfort and inspiration.
- Spiritual Services: Sometimes, simply having someone who will listen can help you better cope with cancer. Spiritual Services chaplains are available to listen and reflect with you on your needs and feelings.
Lodging and Travel Information:
- Hope Lodge: The American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge provides free overnight lodging for adult cancer patients and their caregivers, creating an environment that eases the stress of the cancer journey and the financial challenges of receiving lifesaving treatment. Hope Lodge is a place to prepare meals, share in activities or find comfort in your own private suite. Contact 800-841-8300, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm for a referral to Hope Lodge in Marshfield, WI. - Ronald McDonald House: Marshfield Ronald McDonald House, the first in Wisconsin, serves as a temporary "home away from home" for patients and families of children receiving medical care at Saint Joseph’s Hospital or Marshfield Clinic. Patients can find a warm, comfortable setting where they can rest, prepare a hot meal and perhaps as important, share their concerns and experiences with other parents who also have a seriously ill child. Medical Library: The George E. Magnin Medical Library, located in Marshfield, provides current, accurate work-related information services in order to support excellence in patient care, education, research and administration. The medical library is open to the general public from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. It is located in the Melvin R. Laird Center. Subscriptions include over 460 current periodicals covering subject areas of clinical medicine, general science and computer science. Approximately 20,000 bound volumes are also available along with 2,000 textbooks for research or checkout. Other services include interlibrary loan, book purchasing and referencing assistance.
Oncology Nurse Triage Line: Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care offers a telephone service for individuals with questions, symptoms or problems associated with their cancer diagnosis or treatment. Calls are handled by certified oncology nurses who work closely with the medical oncologists. See: List of Oncology Nurse Triage Line telephone numbers.
Oncology Social Worker: Oncology Social Workers are available to patients and their families to assist with psychosocial issues that may arise during the cancer experience. The Oncology Social Worker can assist with drafting advance directives, problem-solving, patient and caregiver support, referral to support services, discussing workplace issues, financial concerns, transportation concerns, referral to support groups, obtaining medical equipment, and addressing other needs. The Oncology Social Worker also co-facilitates the Children's Lives Include Moments of Bravery (CLIMB) program, which is offered to children and grandchildren of Cancer Care patients, to ensure the whole family is supported in a compassionate and comprehensive manner. Psychosocial Support Services: The Marshfield Clinic Psychiatry and Behavioral Health department works with Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care to assist in addressing psychological issues and symptoms patients may experience. Psychiatrists and clinical psychologists liaison with Marshfield Clinic Cancer Care staff to assist patients in coping with the psychological impact of their disease and treat the emotional symptoms that can occur. A variety of psychosocial services are available including psychiatric evaluation, psychosocial assessment, supportive psychotherapy counseling and behavioral therapies.
Support Groups: Whether you want to learn more about cancer, share your experience, or simply know that you're not alone, Marshfield Clinic can help. We offer several support groups, many in conjunction with the American Cancer Society, to help you and your family to cope with illness.
