Dr. Belongia and colleagues received funding from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to continue studies of influenza vaccine effectiveness for the next 3 years. Marshfield researchers have conducted CDC-supported vaccine effectiveness studies for the past 4 years. New sites collaborating on this project include the University of Michigan, University of Rochester, and Vanderbilt University. Results from the first 3 years of the influenza vaccine effectiveness research were recently published in the Journal of Infectious Diseases (January 2009).
