Epidemiology Research Center

Epidemiology involves the study of disease patterns, risk factors, and outcomes in human populations. At Marshfield Clinic we focus on consequential epidemiology, a term coined by William Foege, M.D., M.P.H., of the Carter Center. Consequential epidemiology focuses on applied research questions that make a difference in the lives of people. The answers to these questions can influence recommendations or public health policies to improve health in Wisconsin and the nation. Antibiotic resistance, vaccine safety, cancer surveillance, and obesity prevention are all examples of consequential epidemiology research at Marshfield Clinic.

With this approach, our mission is to contribute to medical and scientific knowledge by conducting high-quality population based and other epidemiologic research.
