The Biomedical Informatics Research Center (BIRC) is seeking both tenure- and non-tenure-track Informatics Scientists. We are seeking highly motivated individuals who want to have a real impact on the ways that health care and medical research are conducted. We will consider applicants from all areas of informatics and are open to joint practice positions. In particular we are recruiting in the areas of:
Biomedical Informatics Scientist-Specializing in Healthcare Informatics Evaluation
(Marshfield Clinic Position Number MC080049)
The position would be a tenure-track associate research scientist located in BIRC. Joint appointments in other research centers or with Information System are also possible. Initial salary support and start-up funding is available. This position is at the academic rank of Associate Research Scientist (Assistant Professor equivalent), but it may be revised to Research Scientist (Associate Professor equivalent) for a scientist who has a record of accomplishment sufficient to be awarded tenure upon appointment.
Biomedical Informatics Scientist-Specializing in High Throughput Phenotyping
(Marshfield Clinic Position Number MC080048)
The position would be a tenure-track associate research scientist located in BIRC. For candidates with operational interest, a part-time appointment in CIS is a possibility. Initial salary support and start-up funding is available. Possible research foci could include; virtual data warehouse design; data mining; terminology and ontology management; text processing; natural language processing; knowledge filtering and aggregation; interoperability; or similar areas. This position is at the academic rank of Associate Research Scientist (Assistant Professor equivalent), but it may be revised to Research Scientist (Associate Professor equivalent) for a scientist who has a record of accomplishment sufficient to be awarded tenure upon appointment.
SHP Fellowship in Interactive Clinical Design
(Marshfield Clinic Position Number MC090364)
The position represents a unique opportunity for a junior researcher who is interested in the interface between people and technology in healthcare. The Security Health Plan Fellow in Interactive Clinical Design will be a member of the growing ICDI research team within BIRC. The fellow will both contribute to ongoing research projects, as well as propose research projects that will be suitable for external funding. Working with researchers and clinic IS staff, the fellow will design and execute a variety of HCI-related studies. Possible research foci could include: Data Visualization; Health Literacy; Workflow Analysis; Consumer Informatics; Home Health Monitoring; Mobile Healthcare Computing; or similar areas. The duration of the fellowship is two years. Start date is flexible, but is anticipated to be between January and July 2010.
Applications Analyst (Marshfield Clinic Position Number MC090351)
Product expert for supported systems and how they are integrated with user workflows. Primary customer contact for all issues with application software including questions on best practices, integration with departmental workflows, technical capabilities, planned upgrades, deployment and problem identification/support. Ongoing responsibility for one or more applications within Research Center or across multiple Research Centers (NFMC, CHG, MERC, CRC, BIRC). Primary responsibility for the I.S. interface with our customers and for maintaining the MCRF relationship with application developers and vendors. May function as a project analyst and/or project manager on selected projects, application refreshes, new software releases, scheduled maintenance, or general system upgrade activity for supported systems. Participates as an application area expert and business area expert on new applications project teams.
Research Programmer/Analyst (Marshfield Clinic Position Number MC090288)
Designs, develops, evaluates and modifies computer programs and database applications to collect, manage, analyze and evaluate clinical and research data. Monitors data quality, recognizes inconsistencies and initiates resolution of data problems. Typically creates programs and databases using SAS and other software to support a wide variety of research projects. Implements data management plans designed to meet project and protocol deadlines, provides expertise in the design and development of research projects, clinical trials and systems. Acts as a liaison between investigators and project teams on an as-needed basis.
